This book is an account of the legal defense Socrates offered at his trial. Socrates finds himself being accused of impiety and corrupting the youth of Athens. Although this speech is titled “Apology” its message is not an apologetic one.

The Scarlet Letter: a Review
by blade31, Apr 13, 2008
The Scarlet Letter is about a woman that comes from Europe, ahead of her husband, to start a life in the Boston area. The woman’s name is Hester Prynne and her husband is Roger Chillingworth. At the beginning of the book, there is a large crowd of Puritans that were standing outside of the prison for the doors to open. Hawthorne describes the prison as a wooden jail with weather stains, from age, with rusted iron that creates the appearance of decay.
