"sixteen Days" Book Review

A short review of my own first novel so the good readers can have a taste of what it's all about.

Not long ago I wrote and published a Christian novel titled, “Sixteen Days”. I have been told repeatedly that I should write a book review so that folks can get an idea of what it is about, and although I have managed to put it off for quite a while, I have finally decided to go ahead, bite the bullet and review the book for you.

Sixteen Days is the story of a young woman who finds herself trapped inside a store for sixteen days, during which time the world as she knows it comes crashing down around her to the point where finally she begins to doubt her own sanity and the sanity of the man who is trapped there with her. They end up spending all of their time in the basement of this huge store, where they find themselves menaced by all sorts of troubles, including random bullets shot from above, rats, snakes and other people.

The terror builds for this woman as she and her companion attempt an escape from their self-inflicted underground prison where they have locked themselves to avoid the insanity of the people trapped upstairs in the store. The escape itself is a slow, tedious one that seems destined to fail from its very beginning. While the two in the basement are trying to escape, the people upstairs are beginning to die one by one, some of them suffering very horrible deaths, tormented not only by each other, but also by an unseen enemy from the outside that seems to have hidden access to the store's interior.

Who these mysterious invaders are is a source of endless confusion for our friends in the basement who do not know if a war has erupted above-ground, or if this is a form of terrorist attack. All they know for sure is that people are dying and suffering greatly, and there is nothing they can do about it. They are faced with a terrible decision: Do we stay and help the others or do we save ourselves? The two in the basement are divided by this question and often square off against each other because of it.

Trust becomes a major concern, especially for the woman, from whose point of view the entire story is written. She is not even certain if she can completely trust the man she is imprisoned with, but finds herself without the luxury of any options to the contrary. They must work together in order to find a way out of their predicament, whether they can trust each other or not.

Sixteen Days is labeled as a Christian Thriller, and it is filled with non-stop action, chills and surprises that tend to make it a rather quick read. I have distributed copies of this book to many family members who in turn have passed it on to others and they all seem to have the same opinion of it. They tell me that it is really exciting, and that they can hardly put it down. One woman stayed up half the night reading it and blamed me when she was tired the next day, but she loved it.

As much as I hate promoting myself, I have come to realize that a little bit of self-promotion is a necessary part of selling books and I hope that this review has intrigued you, dear readers, to the point of curiosity regarding this book. Sixteen Days is available online and if you Google it, it is easily located. Thank you so much, in advance, for your interest, even if it only ends right here. J
