Terence a 12 year old boy, who lives with an old man, meets A 21 year old man planning to be a knight happens to go by the old man's house, and accepts Terence as his squire. Gawain and Terence travel to Camelot so that Gawain can be knighted by King Arthur. On the way there, they meet Tor, another young man hoping to be a knight. When they get to Camelot, King Arthur knights Gawain, but not Tor, because he has not yet done a great deed. During a big dinner held while Sir Gawain, Terence, and Tor are there, a white hart bounded into the room, chased by a hound. King Arthur doesn't care about the events happening he acts as if they were little importance, but an ugly lady came in and talked to the knights about passing by a major event like this. Sir Gawain started to argue with her and they were both very rude to each other. In the end, the lady won and King Arthur sent Sir Tor and Sir Gawain out to find the hart and the hound.
Sir Gwain saw the quest of little importance, but he ran into many people who he was able to help including Sir Pelleas and Lady Ettard, who were partially in love but didn't get along. Terrance met many people like Robin, a small fairy from the seallie castle, and Morgan, and an enchantress. Towards the end of their journey, much after they had found the hart and the hound, they were told to walk through a river, down a path, and at the end, they met Ganscotter, The best magician in the world. Sir Gawain fell in love with Ganscotter's daughter. A few days after they got back home to Camelot. When they got their, they found out that there is something wrong with King Arthur, so Terence goes out to save him from the enchantresses spell (the enchantress is Gawain's mother).When they find the enchantress Terence spills her cauldron and she disappears and king Arthur is saved.
