The Olympic Dream

Our Team GB has come home with its haul of medals. A great achievement.

Laughing, waving, roaring crowds
Egging on their national teams.
Athlete after athlete training
Trying to achieve their dreams.
Medal taking events and races
Will soon need to be won.
Dry mouths and thumping hearts
Till the Olympic deed is done.
Suddenly the end's in sight
The winning post draws near,
That sudden burst of extra speed
Brings about that endless cheer.
In cycling, rowing, and sailing
Supreme talent has been shown,
But with swimmers, boxers and gymnasts
The medal haul has grown.
Now Team GB you've done us proud.
We've seen you all succeed.
Our hope in you has been fulfilled.
In our young you've sown the seed.
With 2012 four years away
We'll strive to be the very best
And Britain, this great nation
Will certainly rise to that ultimate test.

Great poem. However, I was proud of the American Team.
