Blood sucking twisted vile creatures, words that best describe vampires in horror films but do you know only a vampire can love you forever? Vampires are immortal and powerful. They feed on the blood of the living and they are highest in the ranks of the undead. Unlike zombies, ghouls and demons they think, feel and socialize clearly not barbaric. Other vampires even feel sympathy for their fellow vampires for having such tragedy and self pity for their current status.
Tales of the Vampires
Anne Rice created captivating books about vampires and the world they live on. Rice writes her books in such detail and in a manner of "what does the world look like when you are a vampire?" in a sense that the vampires tell the story in their point of view. The dark gift is her concept of how human beings become vampires. Immortality is a gift according to vampires and only mortals that have proven themselves worthy in the eyes of a random vampire can live forever. But the dark gift has lost credibility because some vampires tend to present the dark gift for a personal reason. Lestat, the main character in Rice's vampire chronicles, presented Louie with the dark gift simply because Lestat is looking for a worthy companion not because he may become a valuable asset to the vampire society. It is simple really just prove yourself as worthy as you can to a vampire, make love with her or any possible way to make her bite you in the neck and when the time comes she will cut her wrist and make you drink some of her vampire blood. It is a painful process since she has to drink some of yours too. If you live to tell about it you will live forever or better, achieve power beyond your wildest dreams.
Sympathy and Regret
Vampires may be powerful and can do whatever they want to do in the night but they are not happy about it. Imagine a vampire crying and weeping for his family and the very reason why they are dead is because of the very thing he swore to destroy and ironically he has become that thing. Mixed powerful emotions flow within these creatures of the night and that is what makes them wonderful to read about. Lestat can testify to that since he lost a dear friend and he even said that love is more powerful than hate. Vittorio the vampire also had his share of devastating emotions. He held tight the heads of his siblings and he even quoted that the emotions he felt was way beyond mortal capacity. Bella, one of the main characters in Twilight, fell in love with a vampire and worse the vampire Edward feel the same way.
Immortality is a curse and a gift.
"Immortality is giving up the sweet release of death." "Only a vampire can love you forever." "The lamb fell in love with the lion." "God forbid that it should take a price. Let me pay the price for you instead." these sentences show art. It should take a great deal of your time and dedication to appreciate this form of art. Vampires are not mindless monsters. They too have their own story to tell. Tragedy, romance and an infinite search of salvation best describe vampires.
