In Animal Farm, there is a lot of propaganda used. My political cartoon is based on the type of propaganda called “poisoning the well.” It is about how Squealer and Napoleon blame everything bad that happens to the farm on Snowball. One animal taps another on the shoulder. He acts like he didn't do it and then he says that Snowball did it. My target audience is anyone who read the book.
Other types of propaganda used in the book are repetition, clouding the issue, red herring, star power, bandwagon, doublespeak, poisoning the well, glittering generalities and card stacking.
The two main types of propaganda used in the book are poisoning the well and card stacking. Poisoning the well is used whenever something bad happens because Napoleon will just lie to the animals and say Snowball did it. For example, when the windmill breaks, the first he says is that Snowball did it, even though he had no clue who really did it.
Card stacking is used after the battle of the windmill. Card Stacking means to emphasize the positive. One good thing and one bad thing happened in that battle for Animal Farm. The good thing is they drove Frederick off the farm. The bad thing is Frederick and his men took down the windmill. Squealer, who was hiding the whole time, made it look like a major victory by telling the farm that they drove Frederick off their land but tells them not to care about the windmill. He emphasizes the positive things.
