This story is about a boy named Greg, who is in grade seven and his big brother Rodrick. Rodrick is very mean to Greg and there's nothing Greg can do about it because Rodrick knows a secret about Greg that would make him very embarrassed if people knew.
This book is comic panels with short stories. The titles aren't actually mentioned in the book so don't go looking for them.
The Invisible Kid. This story is about a kid named Chirag who moved away and then came back. Greg decided to pull a prank and pretend Chirag wasn't there. Greg originally learned this trick from his mom when he was playing under the table and his mom couldn't find him. Eventually she did but she pretended that she still couldn't find him. She got Greg to come out by saying she would give Greg's gum-ball machine to his brother Rodrick. Chirag did a lot of things to get people to speak to him but no one would. Chirag eventually told his parents that Greg was playing a trick on him and Greg had to go and apologize to Chirag but Chirag took it very well and let him stay and play video games.
Rowley's Diary. This story is about Greg's best friend named Rowley who is having a birthday party. Rowley is really stupid so he's having a party that would have been fit for a bunch of 7 year olds. That is partly because all the people there are 7 year olds. Rowley gets a whole bunch of 7 year old toys called Dino-Fighters which are dinosaurs with machine guns on their backs. He also gets a diary and tells Greg that they can be the diary twins but Greg thinks that that is dumb so he punches Rowley in the arm. Rowley's diary is a diary that has Sweet Secrets Diary written in big letters on the front and also has a lock.
Greg wanted to know what was in it because he overheard Rowley talking to some girls and giggling. Greg went out to buy a Sweet Secrets Diary because they all probably have the same key and it worked but it was to no use because all Rowley wrote in there was dumb things about his Dino-Fighters.
These are a couple of examples of the short stories in the book. There are a few more but it is all kind of one big story that gets sidetracked a lot.
The rest of this book is short comic strip like things and I am not going to explain them all. Will Greg ever stop his brother from telling the world the most embarrassing thing about Greg? You will have to read the book to find out.
