Hello. We are Dr. Faison, Dr. Davis-Gardner and Dr. Wright. We are all psychologists and we are here to try to diagnose Mr. Holden Caulfield.
What's eating Holden Caufield? That is the question. Since his brother Allie died, he's been in an advanced state of depression, which has made him, “slowed down” in a lot of things that he thought was enjoyable. He's thought about committing suicide, and a lot of people have left him in his life.
For example, Holden thinks that his brother D.B. left him for Hollywood, his parents are always busy (and rich). When Allie died, Holden punched out the windows in the garage and has not been able to make a tight fist with his right hand since that day. He says that he's been in two fights (both of which he lost in) but says he's a pacifist. This means that he is a fibber and some people that are depressed lie a lot.
Other facts about him being depressed such as: being sorry for himself, he doesn't act his age, he's kind of annoying, he doesn't take any medication, he's scared of disappointing anybody, especially his parents, he is very talkative, he uses a pseudonym (Jim Steele, etc.), he usually doesn't get enough sleep or food to eat, he's a pessimist, and has grandiose notions. He also sometimes feels sorry for himself, and he feels that he is helpless.
We think that we should diagnose him with depression and we will give him the medication he needs.
