Influence and Knowledge

What I've learned so far from speed reading through two amazing novels.

"How to Win Friends And Influence People"

By Dale Carnegie.

You can be a better speaker and have better relationships with everyone. I was a bit doubtful but these are just some of the claims of Dale Carnegie. Carnegie uses different stories to illustrate how better relationships with people can be made. He wants you to get the most out of the book, unlike most authors, and gives nine suggestions.

He noted first the magical requirement which was dealing with people. Carnegie studied the life of Lincoln for example saying, that he indulged the criticism. He noted something which stood out that when we are dealing with people we are not dealing with people of logic.

Everybody ultimately wants a feeling of importance.

Carnegie quotes Christ saying that “we need to fish for people”. To have a good relationship with everyone could limit yourself but depends on a first impression .

The praise not the worship of the person in conversation was important to Carnegie.

"I Will Try"

By Legson Kayira

This is the story of an ill African boy. He was also the poorest of the poor in his society and his family in witchcraft. His people were dying but he was hopeful and a hard worker like his father.

He eventually goes to school in 1946 with the adversity. He wanted to play and be with his friends. He became proud of his name, the author's name, and would fight for it.

His parents die and the doctor of the village gives a grim prediction: run from the famine or die.

He would soon go to secondary school. This journey would lead him to America.
