How to Remove a Sticker From a Book

Have you ever bought a book as a gift only to find you almost destroyed the book trying to remove the sticker? Find out how to remove a sticker from a book quickly and easily.

The stickers you find on books at your local bookstore can be stubborn to take off without harming the dust jacket of the book. If you're giving the book as a gift, you need a quick and easy way to remove these price stickers. If you pick at the sticker too much you're almost guaranteed to damage the dust jacket. Here's how to remove a sticker from a book.

How to Remove a Sticker from a Book

  1. Get out your handheld blow dryer and hold it about an inch from the surface of the sticker. Turn it on high and hold the heat on the sticker for thirty seconds.
  2. The heat from the blow dryer should soften the adhesive so you can gently pull up the corners of the sticker.
  3. Remove the sticker by lifting the corners and pulling towards the center first from one side and then the other until the sticker is completely off. If the sticker doesn't come off easily, apply heat for another thirty seconds and try again.
  4. Once the sticker is removed, there may be some residue left behind. Get a bottle of Goo Gone from your local hardware store and apply it with a paper towel the residue. Rub lightly until the residue is gone.
  5. Polish the dust jacket by rubbing with a soft, cotton bath towel or wash rag.

Using this quick and easy method to remove a sticker from a book can save you many frustrations and headaches not to mention damaged book covers.

Message 5 from Liane Schmidt is not from her, I have just contacted her and it is totally bogus. This is from someone who is creating mischief. Triond are looking into the matter.
