Celebrity Books

Celebrity books range from great to mediocre to "just plain stupid." Celebrity culture means celebrity books.

Music, law, business, food, sports, entertainment? These are just some of the areas where we find celebrity authors.

And Celebrities don't just write tell-all books and memoirs anymore but novels, including science fiction, such as the William Shatner's sci-fi, how to, cookbooks, children's books/picturebooks. Almost all genres are written by celebrities, and as with celebrity perfumes, celebrity clothing and celebrity business ventures, the celebrity name is a ready-made brand name. Many of these books penned by celebrities become instant bestsellers.

The more commercial and competitive our book industry becomes and the more our interest in "celebrity culture" even in academe, we find celebrity authors and author celebrities on our publisher's roster.

Barnes and Nobles calls these celebrity titles, "books with star power."

Titles include Jose Posada's Play Ball!, Jamie Lee Curtis' Is There Really a Human Race (a children's book), Emeril Lagasse's Emeril's There's a Chef in My World!: Recipes That Take You Places, Madonna's The English Roses, Too Good To Be True, Whoopi Goldberg's Whoopi's Big Book of Manners, Kim Cattral's Being a Girl.

Celebrity authors (or author celebrities) include Paul McCartney, Jada Pinkett Smith, Queen Latifah, Jay Leno [How to Be the Funniest Kid in the Whole Wide World (Or Just in Your Class)], Donald Trump, Oprah, Billy Joel, Tim Allen, John Lithgow, and Rachel Ray.

So if you have a favorite musician or musical legend, sports hero or sports legend, celebrity business pro or celebrity business legend, celebrity chef or celebrity scientist go to Barnes and Nobles or Amazon.com and find a celebrity book penned by your celebrity author. Celebrity books are also sold at many celebrities official websites.

Of course, these celebrity books can be a range in quality from great writing to mediocre to "just plain stupid" as with non-celebrity titles. Some books are penned by the authors themselves, others "as told to." Excerpts and reviews can be found online.

If you're interested in knowing the favorite books of your favorite celebrities (the books they like), go to this website.

Here you can find the favorite children's and teen/adult books noted by celebrities, from the Wonderful Wizard of Oz to Invisible Man to Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance.

For celebrity Book Reviews, that is, book reviews written by celebrities themselves go to readersclub.
