Best Book Series' of All Time

We all have favourite books, here's mine. A somewhat random assortment, yes, but still these are all good reads.

  1. Redwall

This series is by Brian Jacques, and follows the wonderful adventures of woodland creatures. It's an epic, at well over 15 books. The best book is the Taggerung, in my opinion.
  2. A Series of Unfortunate Events

It's dark and gloomy, but strangely it's fantastic. It's written by Lemony Snicket (Daniel Handler), and though a children's book, the dark and satirical story is just so… well, enjoyable. The least said about the last book the better, however. Just leave that one out and let your imagination tell the end of the story is my advice.
  3. Harry Potter

Ok, I am going to get lynched for putting this here. But yes, Harry Potter is a good read. The films are alright, but don't stay true enough to the book. There are so many sub-plots and details - every time you read it you discover something new.
  4. The Chronicles of Narnia

So it's a book about kids in a fantasy world where people with one-foot bounce around, you fall off the edge of the world if you sail too far, and talking lions dictate the heroes. It's a great story nonetheless.
  5. Red Dwarf

If you think the TV show was good you'll love the books. There's four, but Backwards is the best in my opinion. Written by the merged entity that is Grant Naylor, the stress of making a TV show at the same time somehow represents itself in the last two books, in a good way.
  6. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

Ignore the film, just read the books. They're so good you won't want to read anything else. These are by the late Douglas Adams. The somewhat ironic trilogy has five and a bit books in it, though Mostly Harmless wasn't quite as good.
  7. Warhammer 40k

This is a huge collection of seemingly thousands of books by many authors, but if you like Warhammer, you should read these. They're good stories (most of them). The best are the Horus Heresy series though, following the rise and fall of the Emperor of mankind.

I think that the Twilight series should be added to the list. IT's a cool book. A mixture fo everything I like in a book.

I think the CIRQUE DU FREAK series should be added to this list.
