I have been to a lot of libraries in different cities and states. I have known which library to go to for certain books and movies.
I have found that not all libraries are created equal and also have wondered why some libraries are even open.
I know that a regional library contains a lot of material that is helpful for everyone. They have the largest number of magazines and newspapers to read as well.
I went to a library in Tucson, Arizona to see if they had any of the books I was interested in only to be disappointed. I looked at the books they had on the shelves and was surprised of the inferior quality of material they offered. I wondered why this library was even open as the items they offer for children isn't the greatest either. I checked their library catalog only to find that everything I wanted in books and movies were at another location. While they could do an inner library transfer, I have found that this route isn't always the most practical avenue to take especially if it takes over a week for you to receive your materials. I would have to go across town to get the books I want. If you're transportation is the bus system or another person, the last thing you want to do is ride a bus for several hours to get to your destination; and the last thing your driver wants to do is drive you across town or come back in one week for you to pick up your materials that you requested from another library.
Before you start out on your trek to the library, call them first to see if they have the materials you want. They'll call you when it comes in and it will be easier for you to get the books or movies you need or want. It'll also make the person taking you happier too!
